Mayor Lehman joined many BDAR members and community partners on Feb. 5 to officially cut the ribbon at the Association’s new facility.
“Our ribbon cutting was more than just a celebration of our new facility – it was an introduction of BDAR to our community partners,” said Tania Artenosi, 2019 BDAR President. “BDAR is dedicated to providing members services and tools, including a robust Multiple Listing Service (MLS) system, needed to deliver a high standard of professionalism and better represent the local real estate needs of the community.”
BDAR members interact with Simcoe County residents daily and are the gateway into the region for prospective residents, and they are local experts who have a pulse on the region that few others do. The Association’s new facility is located at 676 Veterans Drive in Barrie, easily accessible from across the region.
“We are all moved into our new home and are ready to showcase it to members and community partners,” said Artenosi. “Our facility has state-of-the-art technology and modern décor and amenities. It is a member and community training hub with space that can be used members and the community to gather, share information, and connect.”
At the ribbon cutting, Mayor Lehman noted that the fence you see out this window used to be Barrie’s southern-most boundary. But now, the city has grown well past that and soon we will see the developments on these lands going up. In fact, this building and business park is part of this growth as a new development in the south part of town.
He said Barrie is expecting a lot of growth, and that is a sign of community prosperity: “The forecast that we have got in front of us would see us adding about 2000 to 3000 households a year over the next 20 years. That’s a substantial increase from what we’ve seen over the last 10 years…Cities don’t grow unless they are prosperous.”
