October 22, 2021 – Throughout the year, the Barrie & District Association of REALTORS® (BDAR) has contributed to local shelter organizations through various initiatives.
In June 2021, working through the Realtors Care® Foundation, BDAR distributed a much-needed emergency grant fund of $7,700 to three different organizations including Youth Haven, United Way Simcoe Muskoka, and Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie.
“The impacts of Covid-19 continue to be felt around the world, including our local community, with vulnerable populations being disproportionately affected. BDAR has a long history partnering with various local shelter organizations and have witnessed first-hand the tremendous work they do to support our community” said Chantal Godard, BDAR 2021 President.
This month, BDAR continues to work alongside the Realtors Care® Foundation and is donating $13,000 to two local charities. These funds will be divided equally between The Busby Centre and Habitat for Humanity Huronia.
On November 1st BDAR will be launching an all-new virtual fundraiser, A Night of Shelter, coinciding with National Housing Week at the end of November.
“The average night of shelter in our region costs approximately $30 and our goal is to raise 365 nights of shelter for a total of $11,000,” Godard added. “A night of shelter can make a world of a difference and together with our 1,400 Realtors®, we are committed and determined to reach our goal.”
Starting November 1st, you can purchase a night or several nights of shelter in support of Youth Haven, Women & Children’s Shelter of Barrie, and The Busby Centre.
BDAR will be releasing more information including how to donate in the upcoming days. Follow the fundraiser progress on the BDAR social channels:
